Mangaluru, Oct 10: St Aloysius College (Autonomous), Mangaluru, distributed merit-cum-need scholarship ‘Vidyaspoorthi’ for more than 400 students worth Rs 20 lac on Thursday October 5 in L F Rasquinha Hall of the College.
Vishal Hegde, pro-chancellor of Nitte Deemed-to-be-University was the chief guest. Addressing the students, he congratulated the chosen student recipients of Vidyaspoorthi scholarship. He reminisced about his school and college days at St Aloysius College where his father, grandfather and uncle were notable alumni of this prestigious institution. He congratulated the students who are receiving the scholarships and urged them to remember the help given by the college and give back to the needy whenever they can.
Rector of St Aloysius Institutions, Fr Melwin J Pinto and principal, Dr Praveen Martis, SJ were present.
Finance officer Fr Vincent Pinto also attended the event and briefed about Vidyaspoorthi scholarships.
Dr Alwyn D'Sa, registrar welcomed the gathering. Jennifer Ida Mascarenhas, dean of extension services proposed the vote of thanks. The event was compered by Sheikh Shakeer Ali, III BA.
