Mangaluru: Virtual dental conference ‘VIDYEN’ inaugurated at Yenepoya

Mangaluru, Oct 12: The Yenepoya Dental Education Unit, Yenepoya Dental College in association with Yenepoya Centre for Faculty Development organised the virtual international dental education conference - VIDYEN from October 10-12.

The inaugural programme was held on October 11. The welcome address was delivered by the organising secretary Dr Vidya S Bhat and chief guest address was delivered Dr T P Sethumadhavan former vice chancellor, Kerala Veterinary & animal sciences University & professor, Transdisciplinary University of Health Sciences & Technology, Bengaluru, consultant, World Bank Education & Career Consultant, stressed the need for the universities to adjust to the new trends and adopt the newer teaching and learning technologies.

The guest of honour Dr Gangadhar Somayaji, registrar Yenepoya (Deemed to be University) and patron of the conference, spoke on the university contribution in promoting the teaching and learning activities and also praised the efforts of the unit. Dr Sham S Bhat spoke on the New Education Policy mandating the need for curricular changes. Dr Hasan Sarfaraz wished the unit and the programme all the success. Dr Laxmikanth Chatra delivered the presidential address, and congratulated the Yenepoya Dental Education Unit organising the first ever unique conference catering to only dental academicians.

The principal thanked all the keynote speakers for their involvement in the conference and making it a huge success. The principal also congratulated Dr Imran Pasha M, organising secretary for the successful conference. Dr Umme Amarah delivered the vote of thanks and Dr Mallika Shetty was the master of the ceremony.
