Udupi: Udyavar woman killed, two others injured in car-truck collision at Bhatkal

Udupi, Oct 17: A resident of Udyavar met a tragic death after the car she was travelling collided head-on with a truck on Tuesday October 17.

The deceased is identified as Rita D’Souza. The injured ones are Xavier Raj D’Souza and daughter Inrika.

Rita and her family were on their way from Udupi to Goa while the truck was going from Murudeshwar to Mangaluru. Locals provided assistance to the injured and rushed them to the government hospital in Bhatkal soon after the mishap.

A seriously injured Rita was taken for further treatment when she passed away on the way. Her husband and daughter survived with minor injuries. The car was completely mangled in the accident. The city police visited the spot and conducted began investigation.
