Moodbidri, Oct 18: All Grade 1 and 2 children of Carmel School were eagerly waiting for the field trip to Kadalakere park.

They received an enthusiastic welcome from the Kadalakere park staff. Students had their breakfast and they were ready to have lots of fun.

It all started with gratification and games children played in different slides, swings, tyres etc. Different rhymes were sung by the teachers which created a pacifying ambience.

A field trip was also organized for the students on October 10-11 simultaneously for grade 3 and 4 and grade 5 and 6 to Pilikula Nisargadhama which is a multi- purpose tourist attraction at Vamanjoor, which aimed at being both educational and fun. Students along with teachers and parent representatives journeyed to the destination after the short prayer by Sr Preena, the vice principal addressed students and wished them good time and safe journey. At first the students were accompanied to the Science Museum - interactive Science Exhibition and free choice science learning activities. Besides the fun and frolic, the students gained a lot of information about the various species of animals and birds and their habitat at Pilikula Biological Park to gain first-hand experience of experiential learning. Then the students were accompanied to Gutthu House, the traditional manor house of the coastal landlords that reflected the cultural heritage. Students enjoyed the beautiful moments and captured the fun field memories.

Field trips are part of the curriculum and are meant to expose students to their actual and practical fields of work. To understand the skills of different artisans, the students were guided to the heritage village where the students witnessed the beautiful handicrafts as they walked along the village. Next, the students of grade 5 and 6 were mesmerized with the beauty, knowledge and wonders of the universe as they enjoyed watching the show at the Swami Vivekananda Planetarium. It was educational and at the same time relaxation from the daily routine of academics. Lunch and refreshments were also given to the students. Teachers and students were grateful to the management for giving the opportunity and full support in this educational event.
