Dr Aarthi Krishna re-appointed deputy chairman of NRI Forum of Karnataka

Bengaluru, Oct 18: Dr Aarthi Krishna has been re-appointed as the deputy chairman of the NRI Forum of Karnataka with a Cabinet rank.

Dr Arathi Krishna is a native of Chikkamagaluru district but was born in Udupi. Her father is Begane Ramaiah and mother Seetha B Ramaiah. Dr Arathi Krishna's father was a lawyer in N R Pura of Shringeri. He was also the MLA of Shringeri and held the position of rural development minister.

She did her schooling at NR Pura and later shifted to Bengaluru. Married at the young age of 19, she completed her masters degree in political science. Helping her husband in his business in America, she did her masters in public policies and international commerce and later joined to work at the Indian Embassy.

In 2007, Dr Arathi started Krishna Foundation at Sringeri to help for the education of poor children by providing scholarship and education. Later in 2012, she decided to resign from the Indian Embassy and took up the job of advisory at Embassy in New Delhi.

Dr Arathi Krishna responded to the pleas of NRIs during the Covid pandemic and resolve their issues. She was successful in bringing several NRIs to India during the Covid pandemic. She strived hard to provide permission from the embassy to the NRI companies to bring the NRIs in chartered flights.

Due to her continuous contacts with the ambassadors of various countries she was able to help scores of NRIs, who approach her in difficult times. She had helped thousands of NRIs living in countries like China, Italy, Australia, America, Philippines, Spain, Finland, Malaysia, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Poland, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, England and gulf countries.

Several awards have been conferred on Dr Arathi Krishna for her selfless service to the society. She has always involved herself in works related to the society. She has never lobbied for power. She is conferred with Rajyotsava award, honourary doctorate of Kuvempu University, honourary award of Sahyadri Sangha, Mahatma Gandhi Sammana award in Bangkok, Dubai Kannada Kayaka Ratna and Indian community award from the governor of Maryland State of USA.

People have given her the title 'Malnaada Indira' (Indira of Malnad) for her contribution to the Indians living in India and abroad.
