Kasargod, Oct 18: A woman, who is degree holder in ayurveda therapy is dehusking 1000 coconuts for a living every day.
Harinakshi, who is a native of Madikeri and resident of Kasargod, is the woman, who was working as ayurveda therapist in Chennai and Bengaluru. However, after her marriage, she returned to her native place. Meanwhile, her husband also deserted her. Hence out of desperation, she went to for daily wage labourer work and takes care of her children’s education and also their day-today life.
During her tough times, Ali Kunhi, a coconut trader, gave Harinakshi a job of dehusking coconuts in his shop. Before joining the shop, Harinakshi used to dehusk 100 coconuts and used to earn Rs one per coconut. Now she has beaten even men in this profession. She dehusks 1,200 coconuts from morning till afternoon.
The grit and determination of Harinakshi to lead a respectful life has made her to do this work and earn Rs 1000 per day.
