Mangaluru, Oct 18: Navaratri is a joyous celebration of Nari Shakthi and one of the prime festivals of India. Navashakthi Celebration 2023 was organized at EXPERT PU College, Kodialbail on Tuesday, October 17 at Expodium, Kodialbail as a way to keep up the spirit of the age-old celebration of good over evil alive. It was a momentous occasion for all involved, a perfect blend of culture, values and fun. The esteemed Dr Prabha Adhikari M R, Prof and HoD of Geriatric Medicine, Yenepoya Medical College, graced the occasion as the chief guest.

After a soulful rendition of the College Anthem and a welcome address by the Principal, Prof Ramachandra Bhat, the event was officially inaugurated.True to the legacy of ‘Navanarishakthi’, Adhikari, the vice-chairperson Dr Ushaprabha. N Nayak, architect and proprietor of Keystone,  Deepika A Nayak, Physics HoD, Sreevidya, AICE Faculty for Chemistry, Jyothi Ramesh, front office staff, Sharada, senior faculty for Physics, Radhika Nayak, office staff, Jayasree, and admin staff, Priya lit the nine lamps thus representing the nine avatars of Goddess Parvathi.

The chairman, Prof Narendra L Nayak, Maths HoD Prithvi D’Souza, Academic Committee member B Vinay Kumar, and the coaching head, Karunakar Balkur also lit up the stage with their presence.

This was followed with  Karunakar Balkur and B Vinay Kumar, leading a procession accompanied by the divine reverberations of the conch after which the dignitaries of the day filled a pot with rice, symbolizing prosperity and abundance.

The vice-chairperson, Dr Ushaprabha N Nayak delivered a thought-provoking speech on women empowerment, enlightening students on the true meaning of feminism and ‘mind-power’. She further gave an insight on the importance of education in one’s life and then introduced the chief guest.

The chief guest of the day, Dr Adhikari, proceeded to address the gathering with valuable insight on her own life experiences and the role of both education and women in society. Her presence made the event muchbrighter.

The highlight of the event was the NavashakthiCultural Competitions. The students of class XII mesmerized the audience with their spectacular, spell- binding moves, with jaw-droppingdepictions of Goddess Durga’svictory over Maheshasura. The audience felt the rhythm coursing through their veins. The stage became a platform for vibrant costumes and a multitude of emotions and devotion.

Just as each day of Navaratri bears its own significant colour, the same way the students wholeheartedly donned an array of beautiful hues. On this occasion as to showcase ethnicity, the best dressed students were asked to participate in a ramp walk.

The event concluded with a prize distribution ceremony, where the winners of the competitions were awarded with trophies and certificates. The vote of thanks was delivered by the programme director, Sreevidya who thanked everyone for their cooperation and support.

The Navashakthi Celebration 2023 was a memorable and splendid event for everyone as it was a platform for the students to showcase their talents and culture.
