Bantwal, Oct 20: A youth killed himself by hanging due over a failed love affair at Kamaje under Bantwal city police station limits.

The deceased is identified as Sachin (24), a resident of Nelligudde of Kadeshivalaya.

Sachin used to work as an electrician at Levin Electricals in Bantwal. On October 18, he did not return home. His family members began searching for him. Calls to his mobile phone were going unanswered. His family members also inquired with their relatives.

After a long search, Sachin’s scooter was found parked near a ground at Mittakodi in B Mooda village at around 3 am on October 19. However, Sachin could not be seen anywhere near the scooter. When the family members called his mobile phone, the ringtone could be heard. When they went near the spot and checked, they saw Sachin hanging dead from a tree.

A death note was found in the pocket of Sachin’s pant, in which it was written that he is taking the extreme step as he is distraught over a failed love affair. The body was taken to post mortem later.

City police station inspector Ananta Padmanabha and SI Ramakrishna visited the spot and a case was registered.
