Sullia: Rs 20 lac worth gold ornaments stolen from house

Sullia, Oct 22: Thieves broke into a house and took away gold ornaments worth Rs 20 lac at Jattipalla of the town on Friday October 20 night.

The theft occurred at the house of Mohanadasa Mudya, a resident of Jattipalla Borugudde. Mohandasa and his wife had been to Chennai and then to their daughter’s house at Hassan when the theft occurred.

On Friday evening, the tenant of the house, who resides on the top floor, noticed the door of the house broken and informed the police. Finger print experts and canine squad arrived from Mangaluru and undertook spot checking. Later, Mohanadasa and his wife arrived from Hassan. Around 350 grams of gold ornaments including finger rings, bracelet, necklace and chains are stolen. The total value of the stolen ornaments is said to be Rs 20 lac.

Sullia police are investigating further.
