Joint security review meet held in Srinagar


Srinagar, Oct 25 (IANS): A review meeting of top officials of security agencies of Jammu and Kashmir was held in 15 Corps HQs here on Wednesday to coordinate and strategise security in the Union Territory against the backdrop of the ongoing Middle East crisis, officials said.

The meeting was chaired by the LT Governor's Adviser R.R. Bhatnagar, and Northern Command chief, Lt Gen Upendra Dwivedi.

Numerous aspects related to the prevailing security situation in the Union Territory were discussed.

DGP J&K, Chinar Corps Commander and other senior officials from military, state administration and security agencies attended the meeting.

"The situation in the Middle East was deliberated and various contingency scenarios dwelled on," the army said in a statement. "The nuances of security in the region in relation to the onset of the winter season also came up for discussion."
