Puttur: Sexual harassment of girl in bus, accused arrested

Daijiworld Media Network - Puttur (MS)

Puttur, Oct 29: The Puttur women's police station arrested Udaya (40), a resident of Mangaluru, on charges of sexually harassing a girl while both were traveling on a KSRTC bus en route from Mangaluru to Puttur.

The victim promptly informed fellow passengers about the harassment she was facing from the accused. Quick action was taken as the passengers prevented Udaya from disembarking the bus and drove the vehicle to the local police station, where the accused was taken into custody.

Upon hearing about the incident, a group of concerned youths gathered in front of the women's police station, demanding swift and appropriate action against the accused.

It's a high time that Govt. introduces women only busses in intervals n make it compulsory for da pvt. busses especially Mangalore n Udupi to have da same. There are so many transport companies who ply so many busses in these dist. each of them must run one bus only for women according to right time gap. Its pathetic situation of women n college girls. Many don't protest or react cause of issues related to it.
