Mangaluru: Voters’ list draft released by Election Commission – DC Muhilan

Mangaluru, Oct 30: Deputy commissioner (DC) of Dakshina Kannada district Mullai Muhilan said, “The Election Commission released revised draft of voters’ list on October 27. Time is given till December 9 to raise any objections or amendments.

“Two Saturdays and Two Sundays are specified for special registration campaign. It will take place on November 18 and 19 and December 2 and 3.

“The registration officer of voters and assistant officers are already nominated for all the eight legislative constituencies of the district.

“In the revised draft of voters’ list for 2024, there are 1785835 voters in total. Out of this the women voters are more in number. There are 77 third gender voters. There are 1876 polling booths in the district.

“Out of the total voters, there are 229429 voters in Beltangady, 206111 in Moodbidri, 250590 in Mangaluru North, 246665 in Mangaluru south, 205759 in Mangaluru, 227685 in Bantwal, 212892 in Puttur and 206704 voters in the constituency of Sullia,” he said.

The DC also said, “The notification of 2019 is in implementation with regards to sand mining. A report is sent to the state government regarding the sand dunes in the district. The CRZ officials of Karnataka have to give the approval. An approval is already given for the non-CRZ areas. But the rules of the government needs to be followed by everyone. Officials are taking action against illegal sand mining.”
