Mangaluru, Oct 30: Daijiworld TV and Panama Corporation Limited jointly organised ‘Padarangita’, a Tulu music concert at Don Bosco Hall here on Sunday, November 29.
Well-known singers of Tulunadu Ravindra Prabhu, Prakash Mahadevan, Roopa Prakash, Mohammad Iqbal, Soumya Bhat, Sandesh, Tanushree and Dharini presented various Tulu melodies in the concert.
Stray animal caretaker Rajani Shetty, international hotelier Vijay Danthi, Randeep Kanchan, Jithendra Rao of V4 Network and Tulu movie director Thamma Lakshmana were honoured on the occasion by director of Daijiworld Media Private Limited, Alexis Castelino.
Director of Daijiworld Media Private Limited Melvyn Rodrigues honoured Vasanth Shetty, administrator of Saanidhya Residential School and Training Centre for the Mentally Challenged.
Welcoming the dignitaries in his address, managing director of Daijiworld Media Private Limited, Walter Nandalike said, "Daijiworld 24X7 was started in the year 2014.It has successfully completed nine years. Next year, the channel will host a mega event as the channel enters its tenth year.
“Daijiworld is the only channel which provides programmes in four languages namely Tulu, Konkani, Kannada and Beary. Daijiworld is the first channel to use Tulu script in its TV logo. Tulu is the favourite language of Tulunadu. Irrespective of caste and religion as more people speak the Tulu language,” he said.
He stressed that Tulu language should be included in the eighth schedule of the Indian Constitution.
He lauded Rajani Shetty for her compassion and care towards dogs and urged people to join hands with her towards the noble cause that she pursues.
Addressing the gathering, Rajani Shetty praised Walter Nandalike for supporting her cause in rescuing dogs and providing for food to them. "It is because of Walter Nandalike's support that it has been possible for me to provide shelter. I do not ask people to do what I do. But, I request people to come forward and feed the poor stray dogs and at least those that exist in their locality."
Director of Daijiworld Media Private Limited Lawrence D'Souza handed over prizes to the winners of 'Navarangi Sere', a saree competition organised by Daijiworld TV during the Navaratri festival.
Prizes were sponsored by Nuthan Cloth Center Madanthyar. The winners are Moorje Queens, Family Star Kokkada and Neelambari Mangaluru.
Director and HR head of Daijiworld Media Private Limited Ronald Nazareth handed over the prizes to teams Sapthamatha Team Hosangadi, Galathiyarabalaga Maroli, Pretty Pearl Team Shakthinagara.
Walter Nandalike and marketing manager of Daijiworld Praveen handed over the prizes to team Vishwakarma Surathkal and team Falcons Bejai.
Stany Bela of Daijiworld was also present.
Team Kalasavyasachi presented a skit. Artistes Prashanth C K, Sundar Bangadi and Arpith acted in it.
Rajgopal and his team scored the music for the entire event.
Team Urban Group Kulshekar presented a dance programme.
Chethan Shetty and Sharmila compered the grand event.
