Mangaluru, Oct 31: On occasion of National Unity Day, Carmel School resonated with a fervent spirit of unity and patriotism commemorating the unwavering resolve of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel in uniting the diverse threads of the Indian subcontinent on October 31.

The solemn ceremony commenced with the graceful illumination of the ceremonial lamp by the principal Sr Lilly Pushpa, the administrator Sr Dr Prem, the vice principal Sr Premal along with teachers Triveni and Shwetha, symbolizing reverence for Patel's indomitable spirit, affectionately known as the 'Iron Man of India' and the beacon of national cohesion. The students then participated in a poignant prayer service, earnestly seeking divine blessings for the peace and prosperity of the nation.

As the day unfolded, the school radiated with the echoes of cultural vibrancy and traditional values, exemplified by the vibrant welcome dance and the enlightening discourse on the timeless adage 'Atithi Devo Bhava,' emphasizing the significance of hospitality and inclusivity in the Indian ethos.

Amidst the jubilant aura, the students enthralled the audience with a thought-provoking skit accentuating the significance of national solidarity, followed by captivating dance performances that celebrated the rich tapestry of Indian cultural heritage. Sr Prem D’Souza in her thought-provoking address extended warm congratulations to both students and teachers for their outstanding performance. She underlined the value of unity and shared an inspiring tale from the animal kingdom, highlighting their remarkable solidarity. She concluded with anearnest plea for a perpetual reign of love and peace in every heart.

The event culminated with a united pledge, as the attendees, guided by the principal raised their right hands in unison, vowing to uphold the spirit of unity and harmony, thereby paying homage to Sardar Patel's enduring legacy and his timeless vision of a united India.

The industrious students of grades 6A and 6C orchestrated the dazzling spectacle, capturing the hearts of the school community with the insightful guidance of the educators, teacher Deepthi and teacher Shylete. Sanika and Niyathi compered the programme.
