Kundapur, Nov 1: “There were assistants at village levels in the past. We can see an agricultural officer for every Hobli these days. Positions are increasing in various government departments but they are decreasing in the department of agriculture as the department is being neglected,” said former speaker of Legislative Council K Pratapchandra Shetty.
He was speaking participating in the public felicitation and farewell programme for Raghuram Shetty Chittur, the agriculture officer of Vandse agriculture liaison office retiring from service after 31 years of work. The programme was held at Vandse Sriya Convention Hall on October 31. “Officers who work for the farmers remain in their minds permanently. Raghuram Shetty should indulge in agricultural activities
and be for the farmers even after his retirement,” he said.
Byndoor MLA Gururaj Gantihole who presided over the programme said that development is picking up speed due to the interest of officials. “Officers who shoulder their responsibilities with dedication are praised by farmers. Raghuram Shetty has served for 36 years and nine months. May he contribute to prosperous Byndoor by indulging in sectors of his interest even after this,” he said.
Basrur Mahalingeshwara temple managing trustee B Appanna Hegde, former MLA K Gopala Poojary Maranakatte, Brahmalingeshwara temple managing trustee C Sadashiva Shetty, Vandse gram panchayat president Geetha Avinash, agricultural department deputy director Chandrashekar Nayak and agricultural department assistant officer Roopa Mada were present.
Raghuram Shetty who had served as agriculture assistant, gram panchayat secretary, assistant agriculture officer, taluk Jalanayana officer, Saukur temple managing officer, gram panchayat officer and officer of Vandse farmers liaison office was felicitated along with his wife by public felicitation committee and dignitaries of various local organizations.
Vandse gram panchayat member Udaya Kumar Shetty Adikekodlu, Srinivas Poojary Kalmady, Nirmala Vandse, Sudhir Kumar Shetty and others were present.
Kollur temple former trustee Vandaballi Jayarama Shetty welcomed. Smitha and party sang a prayer. Kollur temple managing committee member Dr Atul Kumar Shetty gave an introductory address. Journalist Prabhakar Acharya read the letter of felicitation. Chittur gram panchayat president Raviraj Shetty proposed a vote of thanks.
