Beltangady, Nov 1: A local resident who came across and befriended a woman on Facebook has lost several lacs of rupees here.
The incident took place at Guripalla, near Ujire. Sathish Gowda who is employed abroad was the victim of cheating. He came across a woman on Facebook.
The woman gained his trust during conversations and got a total of Rs 6,96,500 transferred to her various bank accounts by giving different reasons.
A complaint in this connection was filed at the cyber-crime police station here. Police have registered a case.
