Kasargod, Nov 1: The body of a Gulf employee who fell into the river and went missing on October 29, was discovered three days later in Cheruru on the Chandragiri River.

The unfortunate victim has been identified as Abdul Majeed (54) from Vidyanagar's Panalam.

On the late night of October 29, while Majeed was on a boat with his friends, he fell into the water. His friends reached the shore and immediately alerted the police. Both the police and the local fire brigade personnel arrived at the scene to search for Majeed. His body has now been recovered and Vidyanagar police have initiated an inquest.

Due to concerns raised by the police about the incident, Majeed's two friends have been detained for questioning. It is reported that an altercation occurred between the friends before the incident took place. The police are conducting an investigation to determine if there is any other reason for Majeed's death. A clear picture of the incident will only be available once the post-mortem report is received, according to the police.
