Rail commuters want daily service in evenings to Karwar from Mangaluru

Daijiworld Media Network – Mangaluru

Mangaluru, Nov 2: Rail passengers have urged the Railway Ministry to run at least one train that leaves Mangaluru at 5 pm daily towards Karwar to benefit frequent travellers.

Presently, there is no daily service from the City towards Karwar/ Madgaon between 3.30 pm and 9.30 pm.

Frequent travelers feel that a daily evening service between Mangaluru and Karwar would encourage people to travel by train and make it a habit and also reduce the dependence on road transport services.

Commuters feel an evening train between the two cities would also contribute to environment conservation.

Train no 16515 Yeshwantpur-Karwar Express is a tri-weekly service that leaves Mangaluru Junction at 4.45 pm and reaches Karwar at 10.30 pm that is presently available.

Very sensible demand of the coastal people who have to travel for their day to day needs. Konkan Railway single Track will not be able to take the ever increasing Train frequency. Tracks should be doubled to increase the train frequency and to reduce travel time and fuel cost. Its the duty and obligation of our elected representatives to prevail on the authorities to press for the needs of our people.
