Mangaluru: Man acquitted in attempted murder case

Mangaluru, Nov 3: Second additional district and sessions court of the city acquitted Mekri D’Souza and Lancy D’Souza, who was named as an accused in a attempted murder case that occurred in 2018 at Paddodi of Bangrakulur in the city.

On November 5, 2018 a truck was moving at high speed at Paddodi. Praveen D’Souza stopped the truck and asked the driver to drive slowly. The matter was conveyed by the truck driver to Mekri and Lancy, owners of the truck. Both got enraged and arrived in scooter at around 11.30 pm to the house of Praveen D’Souza with the intention of killing him and attacked him with beer bottles kept in scooter.

A case in this regard was filed in Kavoor police station. Judge Preeti K P, who conducted the inquiry acquitted the accused saying that the prosecution has failed to prove the accusation.

Lawyer Venu Kumar and Yuvaraj K Amin argued for the accused.
