Gadag, Nov 3: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah participated in the mammoth ‘Kannada Sambhram-50’ programme in Gadag on Friday and took darshan of Lord Narayana at Veeranarayana temple.
Later, the Chief Minister joined the Kannada Ratha procession which was marched amidst cheers of Kannada activists carrying ‘Arishina-Kumkam’ colored flags, kalashas and Kannada shawls.
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah's fans and activists welcomed the Kannada Ratha with flowers as it passed through the main roads of Gadag.
Along the road, Kannada rangoli and flags in front of the houses were attractive, while women and children showered flowers on the chariot and did abhishekam to the wheels of the chariot with fruits and milk.
Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar, Law Minister and District In-charge Minister H K Patil, Women and Child Welfare Minister Lakshmi Hebbalkar, Mankala Vaidya and many other leaders were present in the procession.
Earlier, the Chief Minister directed the Deputy Commissioners of the districts in the Kalyana Karnataka region to ensure that necessary funds were immediately released to arrange drinking water on account of the drought situation.
All the District Deputy Commissioners must ensure that drinking water and drought relief measures should get priority, he said in telephonic instructions.
