Mangaluru: Intercollegiate fest ‘Expressions 2023’ concludes at Roshni Nilaya

Mangaluru, Nov 6: The School of Social Work, Roshni Nilaya, marked the culmination of its spirited intercollegiate fest, ‘Expressions 2023’, with a spectacular valedictory programme held at the college auditorium. The event enveloped the audience in a whirlwind of emotions and memories.

The programme began with a warm welcome by Sarik Ankitha, dean student progression, who set the tone for the evening's festivities. The highlight of the evening was the presence of the esteemed chief guest Raj B Shetty, a renowned figure in the Sandalwood film industry, who has made his mark as an actor, director, and screenwriter. 

 

As a proud alumnus of the School of Social Work, Shetty fondly reminisced about how Roshni Nilaya had played a pivotal role in shaping his character. He emphasized that it was at this institution where he was embraced for who he truly was, encouraging the current students to pursue their passions without worrying about their initial skill levels, as he believed that taking those initial steps was the key to success. Shetty motivated the students and expressed his firm belief in their potential to surpass his own achievements. His humility and gratitude towards his teachers, who were present at the event, resonated deeply with the audience.

Prof Shobana, retired head of the English department, shared insights into Raj B Shetty's college life, emphasizing his simple and sincere personality. She spoke of the pleasure she experienced while being a part of his academic journey.

Dr Malini Mukund, former head of the department of sociology, lauded Shetty's grit and determination in pursuing his dreams, citing him as a prime example of someone who came, saw, and conquered.

On this occasion Raj B Shetty was felicitated by the teachers who were part of his academic journey during his time in Roshni Nilaya.

Dr Jenis Mary, vice principal, School of Social Work, presided over the event and reminded the students that success was not solely measured by trophies but also by the love, empathy, support, and encouragement that came with it.

The valedictory programme continued with heartfelt expressions of gratitude from the participants who took to the stage, extending their thanks to the college for hosting them and congratulating the institution for successfully conducting the event.

Chinnu Skariah, the cultural secretary, delivered the vote of thanks, ensuring that every individual involved in the event received well-deserved appreciation.

The high point of the evening was the announcement of the overall championship trophy, which was awarded to SDM College of Business Management, while Canara College was acknowledged as the runners-up, capping off a fiercely competitive and memorable intercollegiate fest.

As the valedictory programme came to a close, the air was filled with a sense of nostalgia, achievement, and inspiration, reflecting the profound impact that Roshni Nilaya School of Social Work has had on its students and alumni.
