Kundapur: Protest held at Senpaur urging stops for Bengaluru, Mumbai express trains

Kundapur, Nov 6: Thousands of villagers held protest on the evening of Sunday at Senapura railway station urging stoppage of express trains at the station.

From many decades only local trains used to stop at Senapura railway statin. People of Senpura and nearby villages work in places like Bengaluru and Mumbai and they have to go all the way to Kundapur or Byndoor to catch trains. This increased the journey time as well as the cost. Enraged by this fact, beneficiary villagers of Senapura railway station gheraoed the railway station and protested. They did not even mind the heavy rain that was lashing.

Speaking to protesters, Byndoor MLA Gururaj Gantihole said, “I am aware of the issues of the villagers. I have discussed the matter with MP B Y Raghavendra. Within a month Bengaluru and Mumbai express trains will stop at Senapura. “

Former Kundapur taluk panchayat president Shankar Shetty said, “We have highlighted our problems since many decades in a peaceful manner. But it did not yield any result. So whole village have protested today unitedly. We are confident that our protest will give fruit.”

Former vice president of Kundapur taluk panchayat Praveen Kumar Shetty Kadke said, “Protest is the only way for the solution of problems of the villagers. Women and children also participated in the protest. I Goods trains also stops at our railways station along with passenger express train our village will develop. Our protest will intensify in this regard.”
