Udupi: St Vincent De Paul Church Katapady platinum jubilee celebration on Nov 14

Udupi, Nov 8: "The platinum Jubilee celebrations of St Vincent De Paul Church, Katapadi will be held on November 14 with the participation of various dignitaries and devotees" said Fr Rajesh Pasannaa, parish priest, St Vincent de Paul church Katapady. 
 
On November 14, at 9.30 am, the Bishop of Udupi Diocese, Dr. Gerald Isaac Lobo will lead the thanksgiving service. After that, at 11.30 am, a felicitation programme will be held under the presidency of Dr Gerald Issac Lobo, Bishop diocese of Udupi.
 
Msgr Ferdinand Gonsalves, Vicar general diocese of Udupi Kapu MLA Gurme Suresh Shetty, Fr Rock D'costa, Provincial Superior of Southern India, Holy Cross Congregation, Dr Roshan D'Souza, Udupi diocese chancellor Fr Charles Menezes, dean, Udupi deanery Fr Ronson Dsouza, director of Holy Cross Student Home Katapadi, former minister Vinay Kumar Sorake, Daijiworld Media managing director Walter Nandalike, Katapadi grama panchayat president Prabha Shetty, Kote grama panchayat president Pramila Jatanna, Church souvenir editor Catherine Rodrigues will be the chief guests.
 


 
The prize distribution and cultural programme will be held on that evening at 6 pm. The programme will be presided over by the Udupi deanery dean Fr Charles Menezes.
 
Provincial superior of South India Holy cross Congregation Fr Roque D'Costa, Holy Cross Student Home Katapadi director Fr Ronson R D'Souza, Katpadi Konkans UAE founder secretary Agnel Rodrigues, Writer Vijay Kumar Shetty Mumbai will be the chief guests.
 
People of all faiths will be participating in the diamond jubilee celebrations. The grand horeknike procession will be held on November 10 and followed by a public anna santarpane programme on November 11.
 
After the stage programme, there will be various cultural programmes by the children and youths of the church and a Tulu drama performance called 'Pradhardeer' will be performed by the Rangataranga Kapu troupe.
 
The church was established in Katapadi on May 16, 1948,with Rev Ruzario Fernandes serving as the first priest. So far 16 priests have given their selfless service for the development of the church.
 
Presently, Fr Rajesh Pasanna is serving as the parish priest and Brian Correa as the vice-president of the parish pastoral committee, Teresa Lobo as the secretary, and Louis DSilva as the convener of the 20 Commissions.
 
A number of programmes have been done throughout the year to commemorate the diamond jubilee with the help of donors and with the cooperation of the church devotees. There is a plan to build a house for the poor on the occasion of the celebrations.
 
Various competitions and programmes were also organised throughout the year at church, zone and diocese levels as a part of diamond jubilee.
 
Brian Correa, vice-president of the parish pastoral committee, Teresa Lobo, secretary, Louis D'Silva, coordinator of 20 Commissions, Kiran Lewis, chairman of the sports and cultural Committee were present in the press conference.
