Bengaluru, Nov 10: K J George, state energy minister has been appointed as the president of Christian Development Corporation by the Karnataka government in an order passed by Governor Thawar Chand Gehlot.

Four members have also been appointed to the corporation.

The other appointed members include former MLA J R Lobo, former MLC Ivan D'Souza, former nominated MLA Vinisha Nero and former legislative council chairman David Simeon.

    It is a well known fact that Chritians in Karnataka are the most developed community compared to Hindus and Muslims. Where is the Hindu development Corporation Siddaramayyaji? Isn't this an obvious vote bank policy?

    We will never celebrate any anniversary or Tippu Jayanthi as you have termed it, as Mangalorean Catholics had also been savaged and imprisoned by Tippu. Read history and then mumble .. The captivity of Mangalorean Catholics at Seringapatam (1784–1799) was a 15-year imprisonment of Mangalorean Catholics and other Christians at Seringapatam, in the Carnataca region of India by Tippu Sultan, the de facto ruler of the Kingdom of Mysore.[1] Estimates of the number of captives range from 30,000 to 80,000, but the generally accepted figure is 60,000, as stated by Tipu in the Sultan-ul-Tawarikh.[2] The captivity was the most disconsolate period in the community's history.[3]
