New Delhi, Aug 31: Much to the joy of his millions of supporters across the country, anti-corruption activist Anna Hazare was discharged from Medanta hospital in Gurgaon on Wednesday August 31.
However, the 74-year-old left from the backdoor and gave the waiting media a slip. He left for his village Ralegan Siddhi in Maharashtra the same evening.
Anna was admitted to the hospital on August 28 after he broke his fast demanding a strong Lokpal Bill ended on the 13th day. He began the fast on August 16, following which a nationwide movement arose, till finally, after many rounds of tug of war between the government and Team Anna, the parliament decided to agree in principle to the three conditions set by Anna to end his fast.
On Wednesday doctors attending him said that his condition had improved and that his vital parameters were stable. He was discharged after the doctors declared him fit.
Anna, who had been on a diet of only water, has now begun taking solid foods and on the day of his discharge he had rice, dal and idli. However, his diet is not completely back to normal yet.
He has also started meeting visitors, especially his close aides, sources said.
