Mangaluru, Nov 22: Children's Day, a special day dedicated to celebrating and honoring children, was joyously observed at St Aloysius College Higher Primary School on November 15. The dignitaries, including Correspondent Fr John D'Souza SJ, headmistress Jositta Noronha, PTA vice president Victor Serrao, SPL master Ayush Shetty, and ASPL master Joylan D'Costa, were gracefully ushered into the hall.
The prayer song, melodiously sung by the teachers, set a reflective tone, followed by a warm welcome from Anit Bindu, who greeted all present on the dais with a rose. Rich floral tributes were paid to Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, affectionately known as ‘Chacha Nehru’, on his birth anniversary.
A well-received song and dance programme by the teachers and PTA members, respectively, along with a captivating skit, left the students amazed. Prizes were then distributed to the winners of various earlier competitions.
The chief guest, Ashwini Shettigar, a class seven student qualified for the district level Pratibha Karanji Kannada recitation competition, addressed the gathering, emphasizing the importance of children's day. The guest Arjun Acharya, also from Class seven and selected for the Mysore division basketball tournament, spoke eloquently on the occasion, emphasizing the necessity of nurturing and safeguarding children's rights.
The teachers, showcasing both filmy and folk dances, kept the students enthralled. The celebrations concluded with the rendering of the school anthem.
On this auspicious occasion, children looked charming in their colorful attire. They were treated to a sumptuous biryani lunch by the school management and delightful cone ice cream sponsored by the members of the PTA.
