Udupi/Mangaluru: Good rains in different parts of coastal districts

Udupi/Mangaluru, Nov 26: Some parts of coastal districts received rain accompanied by thunder on Satuday.

Heavy rains lashed Udupi, Manipal, Malpe, Parkala, Kundapur city, Koteshwara, Beejadi, Gopadi, Thekkatte, Basruru, Bidkalkatte, Halady, Goliangady, Belve, Amasebailu, Siddapura, Hosangadi, Shankaranarayana, Tallur, Hemmadi, Gangolli and Trasi. Many people who were returning home after work had to face inconvenience due to the sudden heavy rains and wind.

In Dakshina Kannada district good rains were observed in Puttur, Uppinangady, Vittal, Bandaru, Beltangady, Kadirudyavara, Sampya, Puttur and Bantwal taluk.

According to the Indian metereological depatement yellow alert is declared till morning of November 26. There is possibility of moderate rain with cloudy weather for the next two days.

The highest temperature recorded in Mangaluru on Saturday was 33.6 deg C while the lowest was 24.2 deg C.

The rains however, put farmers in inconvenience as the pre-monsoon harvest cutting work is still not complete. In places were the harvesting is over, these rains will cause hindrance in groundnut crop sowing as the earth needs to be dry for this crop.

    Dude, I still remember you had written in this daiji forum about 3 months ago ....saying there will be rain in December... in response to the comment to shri Rudy, expressing his fear of no water due to el nino....I was happy to see your faith and hope in the nature.     only people like Siddaraya who have genuine concern for the downtrodden all good things will happen..he is from kuruba community which is looked down upon by other higher castes in ghatta areas..so he knows how it feels....that is why poor people are getting more benefits....Noormadi will become savira madi within five years...

    @Cynthia; please understand these unseasonal showers give rise to further increase in temperatures, and also very destructive to the farmer folk! I reiterate, that we have to brace ourselves for an acute scarcity of drinking water by end December; most open wells are on the verge of drying; and majority of the borewell water supplied by tankers is contaminated with heavy metals, not suitable for human consumption; rest you think what you want!

    Rudy sir, true i agree. Your comment really makes aense and there's no doubt about it. But, as per the headlines, we didnt get rain lavishly.... Dont know where it rained....!! If there's no behefit for us, at least plants/coconut trees are benefitted. Thanks to god

    @Cynthia; early morning due to the sudden drizzle ambient temperature had gone down to a pleasant 25/26°C: by 12 PM temperature has abruptly risen to 33°C, so all the rain water already evaporated and ambient temperature shot up; abnormal rainfall is detrimental to flowering fruit plants and ripened coffee seeds ready for harvesting! BTW; fishing business is suffering heavy losses due to irregular and unscheduled power cuts; just imagine what will happen in the summer season which is yet far away 😔! 🙏🙏
