Mangaluru: Awards presented to young talents of Devadiga community

Mangaluru, Nov 26: "Success in life is possible through hard work. Don't expect to get anything easy. One should learn the ritual of respecting one's parents and elders. Dr K V Devadiga's achievement is a role model for all of us," said Dr Harish Sherigar, administrative director of Acme Building Materials Trading Ltd, Dubai, and trustee of K V Devadiga Charitable Trust.

He spoke on behalf of Dr K V Devadiga Charitable Trust here on Sunday, November 26 at the Devadiga Samaj Bhavan in Mannagudda, Mangaluru to inaugurate the awards ceremony for the young talents of Devadiga community who have achieved excellence in various fields.

Kuvempu University, Shivamogga retired vice-chancellor Prof Dr B S Sherigar said that Dr K V Devadiga has contributed a lot to the society. He said that he is another name for excellence and his concern and commitment towards the society is immense.

Mangalore Sharda Group of Universities president Prof M B Puranik said that despite being a small community, Devadiga was known for his community respect, social concern and honesty and was loved.

Renowned neurosurgeon and Dr K V Devadiga Charitable Trust chairman Dr. K V Devadiga presided.

Mangalore Management Association president K Jayaraj Rai, Dr K V Devadiga Charitable Trust trustees Dr Diwakara Rao, K J Devadiga, treasurer Ashok etc. were also present.

Secretary of the Trust Dr Devaraj K delivered the introductory speech and welcome speech. Dr K V Devadiga Charitable Trust 2021 award winner Veena conducted the programme. Pallavi rendered the prayer. Kavita, Kirana, Pallavi, Jayalakshmi introduced the honourees. Programme coordinator Dr Sundara Moily congratulated. Devotional song by Sahana before the programme was followed by a flute recital by Sunil A Dharamsthala.

Dr K J Devadiga Best Young Sportsperson Award 2023- Deeksha Devadiga, Udupi

Shri Ashok Shrestha Samaj Sevak Award 2023- Suraj Devadiga, Mangaluru

Dr Devaraj K. Best Teacher Award 2023 (High School)- Sushmita, Mangaluru

Varun Devadiga is the highest marks student in SSLC of Late K Lakshman Memorial School.

    When we read about lots of polarisation and hatred strewn around, this news is heartening and makes our undivided Dakshina Kannada, a leading light of education for the well being of people of India. May be we are diverse but we are all one in spirit.
