Udupi,Nov 26: The holy eucharistic procession of diocese and the inauguration of the jubilee year was held on the occasion of Christ the King feast on November 26 at Milagres Cathedral, Kallianpur.
Dr Gerald Issac Lobo, bishop, Diocese of Udupi performed the eucharistic celebration on the occasion.
In his homily, Dr Gerald Issac Lobo said, "The love we show should not be just a show of love but should be shown through action. Loving, service is a fundamental principle of Christianity, and we should not hesitate to show it to our neighbours. Lord Jesus became a model for mankind by getting on the cross and forgiving all our sins. Accordingly, he called us to be committed to building the Kingdom of God through forgiveness, love, and service in our lives.”
After the holy eucharistic celebrations, Fr Cyril Lobo conducted the adoration of the holy sacrament.
Later, the holy sacrament was taken in a specially decorated open vehicle in a procession through the streets of Kallianpur and was honoured with an open prayer at the Mount Rosary Church Santhekatte, Kallianpur .
At this time, the assistant priest of St Francis Xavier Church in Udyavara, Fr Leo Praveen D'Souza read the holy Bible and said in his sermon, “Holy sacrament is a symbol of unity, sacrifice and forgiveness, true love lies in showing it to our neighbours, and Jesus has shown it to us by sacrificing himself on the cross.”
More than 3000 devotees, 50 priests and more than 100 nuns from 51 churches of Udupi diocese participated.
On the occasion, the jubilee year 2025 was also inaugurated. Christ Jayanti Udupi Diocese level - 2025 jubilee year was inaugurated by unveiling the logo electronically.
Addressing the faithful after inaugurating the Jubilee year, Dr Gerald Issac Lobo, bishop, diocese of Udupi said, "Pope Francis has directed to conduct a study of the four constitutions of the second vatican council during the year. We are invited to deepen our faith by studying these constitutions and celebrate this jubilee with a prayerful spirit. Various programmes are being organized in the diocese in this regard.”
