Daijiworld Media Network – Mangaluru (MS)

Mangaluru, Nov 27: MLA Dr Bharath Shetty Y said that Kottara Chowki junction in the city will be named after the late Capt Pranjal, the brave warrior of Karnataka, who was martyred in the battle with terrorists at Rajauri in Jammu and Kashmir.

He further said, “An Amar Jawan theme park will be built at Kottara Chowki. Hence, it is suitable to name the circle nearby to the park after Capt Pranjal, who grew up in the city. Instructions will be given to the Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) via a letter in this regard.”

The MLA also said that the decision of the late Captain Pranjal, who did not dream of a job that would have given him lac of rupees in remuneration but chose to join army from his childhood, is an inspiration to the younger generation. He also said that let the almighty God give strength to his family to bear this untimely loss.

Appreciate this gesture. I think our Army should choose their timing to enforce a cost on Pakistan for this loss to us.

First of all, does he have the authority to instruct MCC to rename the junction? Legal experts should enlighten on this issue? Second, on the day of the funeral of Captain Pranjal, the man at the helm of the country was in Bangalore to fly the Tejas fighter jet. But he neither participated in the funeral nor uttered a word of condolence. This shows the respect the party has for soldiers. Now why this hypocrisy by the local MLA?

A good move, instead of naming places after politicians, it is better to name places after soldiers who have laid down thier lives for the country.
