Udupi: SMVITM inaugurates NSS camp

Udupi, Dec 1: The inaugural ceremony of annual special NSS camp of NSS unit of Sri Madhwa Vadiraja Institute of Technology and Management (SMVITM), Bantakal was held on November 27 in the institute premises.

Suchith Kotian, HOD, department of journalism and NSS programme officer, MGM College, Udupi inaugurated 7 days annual NSS camp by lightening the lamp. In his inaugural address to the gathering, he said, “NSS will give opportunities to students in the community development service programmes and enable them to get experience by exposure to the life outside educational institutions. Also, he mentioned that NSS provides discipline, service attitude and leadership skills coexistence among the students.

Prof Dr Thirumaleshwara Bhat, principal SMVITM, Bantakal, in his presidential address expressed his joy of organizing the NSS camp in SMVITM. He extended his wishes to all the participants and urged to make use of the platform for a fruitful as well as a good learning experience.

On this occasion, Constitution Day in India was celebrated to commemorate the adoption of the Constitution of India, highlighting Jan Bhagidari, and to honour and acknowledge the contributions of the founding fathers of the constitution. Additionally, an oath-taking ceremony was organized, during which the chief guest read the preamble of the Indian Constitution.

The vice principal, dean, HODs, faculty, staff members of SMVITM, Bantakal and students were present during the function.  Nidhi Patkar of third year AI and DS branch welcomed the gathering, Surabhi of second year AI and ML branch invoked the blessings from the Almighty. Dhanush Shastry, vice president NSS unit of SMVITM proposed vote of thanks. Akshatha introduced the guest to the gathering, the programme was compered by Ananya.
