Udupi, Dec 1: Deputy commissioner Dr K Vidyakumari emphasized the need to provide essential facilities for devotees attending the upcoming paryaya ceremony of Sri Krishna Math in January 2024. She made these suggestions during her address at the pre-planning meeting for the annual ceremony held at the district office auditorium on Friday, December 1.
The annual paryaya at Sri Krishna Math is scheduled to take place from January 8 to 18, attracting devotees from various parts of the state, other states, and abroad. Dr Vidyakumari stressed the importance of ensuring basic amenities such as cleanliness, sanitation, road conditions, and water supply to accommodate the anticipated increase in the city's population during the event.
She urged for improved road maintenance in coordination with skilled labor, the immediate setup of mobile toilets, and the deployment of police for crowd management and traffic control. To facilitate the smooth transportation of devotees, Dr Vidyakumari suggested providing special vehicles and temporary parking arrangements with a focus on efficient traffic flow.
