Lucknow, Sep 4: Police took 35 Lekhpals - revenue department employees into judicial custody on Sunday following the clash between advocates which left two dead and half a dozen lawyers injured in Mohammadi Tehseel of Lakhimpur Khiri district around 150 kms from state capital Lucknow of Uttar Pradesh.
Meanwhile a magisterial probe of the incident also began on Sunday. In another action state government, on Sunday also transferred Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) and Tehsildar of Mohammadi in Lakhimpur Khiri.
On Sunday Commissioner Prashant Trivedi and IG Zone Subesh Kumar Singh inspected the crime scene personally. The latest development being that the bodies of two lawyers who had died in the clash were handed over to the family members after postmortem. Last rites were also performed by the family members. Commissioner Trivedi claimed that all the lawyers who had received injuries during the incident have been discharged from the hospital.
Earlier on Saturday, in a violent clash between lawyers and Lekhpals, two lawyers died while half a dozen others were injured. The sensational shoot-out at Mohammadi Tehseel left everyone shocked and heavy police force were sent from Lucknow. Tension was palpable still in Lakhimpur. A case has been registered at police station on the complain of advocates.
