Mangalore, Sep 5: Other than intermittent showers, Sunday remained dry in most parts of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts. Most of these places got some rains in the morning, and sunshine was predominant since noon. The people took the opportunity to go out and complete their pending work, as a result of which, business houses and hotels which were open on Sunday did brisk business, and roads witnessed increased traffic.

Fishing activity continued to be paralyzed on Sunday because of windy conditions at sea. However, some boats have started returning to their bases from fishing ports where they were moored because of exigencies caused by inclement weather.

Isolated places like Hosanagar (14), Agumbe (13), and Linganamakki (11) in Shimoga district received heavy rain. Average rainfall in the coast hovered around three to four cm. The meteorological department has predicted heavy rains in the coast and some places in the southern hinterland. It also said that some places in northern hinterland might receive light to normal rains during the period ending with tomorrow morning.
