Mangaluru: Mount Carmel Central School athletes excel at AICS Athletic Meet

Mangaluru, Dec 7: The athletes of Mount Carmel Central School, Maryhill have outdone themselves yet again in their performance at the AICS Athletics Meet of DK Schools held on December 6 at Sharada Vidyanikethan School, Talapady.

In the under 14 boys category, Johan Gladson of grade VIII bagged the 1st place in the 200 mtrs and the 600 mtrs race, thereby he earned the Individual Championship in this category.

The school relay team (boys) comprising Johan Gladson, Ashish, Vihaan Hegde and Darren D'Souza bagged the 2nd place in the 4×100 mtrs relay race. Thereby, the Under 14 boys team emerged as the overall champions.

Jesnia Correa of grade VII won the 1st place in 600 mtrs race in Under 14 girls category.

In the under 17 girls category, Sweeny Concessao of grade X secured 2nd place in the 100 mtrs event, Roncia Lobo of grade X won the 2nd place in the 800 mtrs race and Sakshi Karkada of grade IX came 3rd in the 200 mtrs race.

The school relay team (girls) won the 2nd place in the 4×100 mtrs relay race. The team included Sweeny Concessao, Senora Cutinho, Roncia Lobo and Sakshi Karkada.

Adding to these laurels, the efforts of the athletes earned the school the overall runners-up championship trophy.

The management, principal, staff, parents and students rejoice and have applauded the efforts and achievements of the athletes.
