Udupi, Dec 8: A doctor who was giving medical treatment, suffered cardiac arrest and died at the district hospital here.

The deceased is identified as Dr Shashikala.

She had retired in February 2022 but was continuing on contractual basis due to shortage of doctors. She was screening patients in the OPD.

On Thursday, Dr Shashikala collapsed while checking patients in the OPD. Though the staff rushed her to the ICU immediately, she did not respond to any treatment and had breathed her last by then.
