Kerala, Sep 5: For the first time in the history of 800 years of the settlement of Konkani speaking people in Kerala, an attempt was made by Dr Narmada – Dayanand Kamath Endowment Fund under the aegis of Anugraha Charitable Trust to support the student community by distributing more than Rs 9 lac to 190 Plus-One students. These students belong to Gowda Saraswath Brahmins, Kudumbi, Vysha Samaj and Saraswaths belonging to linguistic minority community.
“Students should accept and face the challenges in life even if they are denied the liberty of getting their choice of career due to many reasons and that is the success of real life” said N Kantha Kumar, former CMD of Syndicate Bank while inaugurating the scholarship distribution function.
Anugraha Charitable Trust which is running senior citizens’ home, orphanages, free housing complex and choultries under the benevolence of Narmada-Dayanand Kamath Endowment Fund has a special focus on enducation and a dedicated Anugraha Education Board is set up for assisting students belonging to all communities said R Gopinatha Naick, secretary while presiding the function.
Prof R V Kilikar, chairman of Anugraha Education Board, A S Shenoy, management consultant, S R Kamath, administrator and Payyanur Ramesh Pai, president of Kerala Konkani Academy conducted a seminar to the beneficiaries.
R Bhaskar Shenoi, N M Pai, C S Naick, Venkatesh Baliga, S G S Baliga, Devanand Kamath, Adv Vasantha Kumar, N Suresh, N S Naveen representing various organsiations among others were present.
