Udupi: 20th Makkala Sahitya Sammelana to be held on December 23 in Nadur, Brahmavar

Udupi, Dec 10: The Udupi district level  20th "Makkala Sahitya  Sammelana'' will be held on December 23, at Sri Vani High School, Rajathadri Nadur in Brahmavar Taluk. The sahitya sammelana is organized by Shantivana Trust (R) Dharmasthala, School Education Department Udupi district, Shri Ramakrishna Ashram, Belagavi and Mangaluru, barukuronline.com in association with Swami Vivekananda cultural centre Barkur, Brahmavar Galimane Nadur Late Shivaram Shetty Birth Centenary Committee.

Yashaswini A Barkuru, student of SMS English medium school (CBSE) Brahmavar is the president of the 20th "Makkala Sahitya Sammelana."  Renowned poet and writer Jayanth Kaikini will be the inaugurator of the sammelana. Jalandhar Shetty, president, Kadur Gram Panchayat will flag off the procession at 9 AM.

Children’s poetry compilations will be released on the occasion by renowned theatre artiste Alwyn Andrade. Ganapathi K, DDPI, Udupi district will grace the occasion along with B Seetaram Tholpadittaya, secretary Shantivana Trust, Dharmasthalam, Shabbir Hussain, regional chief executive officer IFKO (SEO), Malaysia, Dr Pandu Shetty, consultant physician and diabetologist, Canada. B Sreenivas Shettigar, honorary president,  Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre, Barkur, B Bhoja Hegde, president, Shri Vaani Vidyabhivraddhi Sangha, Nadur and Rajaram Shetty, president,  Nadur Late Shivaram Shetty Birth Centenary Committee will be guest of honor.

Karnataka Rajyotsava awardee Dr Prashanth Shetty, principal, Shri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara Nature Cure Centre, Ujire and Narendra Kumar Kota, will be honoured on the occasion.

All the presidents of the past 19 years' Makkala Sahitya Sammelana will also receive a special honour and felicitation on the occasion along with other student achievers.

The valedictory program will be held at 3 PM presided by Yashaswini A Barkuru. Shabana Anjum, Block Education Officer, Brahmavar block, Dr Krishnamurthy, California, Abhilasha S, principal SMS English Medium School (CBSE), Brahmavar will be guest of honour. Neelavara Surendra Adiga, president, Udupi District Kannada Sahitya Parishad will be delivering the concluding notes.

A lecture by Dr Pandu Shetty, consultant physician and diabetologist, Canada on the topic, "Kannada medium not an obstacle for higher education" will be held. The children’s poetry reciting session will be presided over by Shamitha, a 10th standard student of Shree Vani High School, Nadur, S Nithyananda Padre, retired chief sub editor of Udayavani will moderate the session.

Three seminars by Jayanth Kaikini on "Through the windows of literature", "Literature and life celebration" by Muniraj Renjala and "Literature reading and life values" by Akshay Ghokale will be held on the occasion.
