Puttur: Founder’s Day celebration held at Mai De Deus Educational Institutions

Puttur, Dec 11: Mai De Deus Educational Institutions in Puttur reverently observed Founder’s Day in tribute to Msgr Anthony Patrao on Monday, December 11. The day stood as a testament to the enduring legacy of Msgr Anthony Patrao and the commitment of Mai De Deus Educational Institutions to academic excellence and holistic development.

The day commenced with a Thanksgiving Eucharist held at the Mai De Deus Church at 9 AM. Following the spiritual observance, a series of events unfolded at the St Philomena College Campus, where newly renovated infrastructure facilities were blessed.


A notable highlight of the day was the unveiling of a life size statue of Msgr Anthony Patrao, generously donated by Mr Michael D’Souza, an NRI and philanthropist. This striking statue now stands as a symbol of reverence and gratitude within the institution.

The ceremony continued with the inauguration and blessing of the modernized, air-conditioned computer laboratory at St Philomena College. The renovated St Philomena English Medium School and the Msgr Anthony Patrao Auditorium were inaugurated and blessed, marking a significant step forward in enhancing the educational facilities.

Fr Valerian D’Souza, former correspondent of Mai De Deus Educational Institutions, played a pivotal role in the event by unveiling the statue of Msgr Anthony Patrao and inaugurating the newly renovated infrastructure. The prayers and blessings were conducted by Very Rev.Fr Lawrence Mascarenhas, the current correspondent of Mai De Deus Educational Institutions.

The occasion was graced by the presence of Mr Jerald D’Costa, Vice President of Mai De Deus Parish Council, Mrs Elvin D’Souza, the secretary, members of the Managing Committee, Rev. Dr Anthony Prakash Monterio, Principal of St Philomena College, Rev. Fr Nilesh Crasta, Parish Priest, Maril Church, Sr Lora Pais Headmistress of St Philomena English Medium School, Presidents of Alumni Association, Parent-Teacher Association, teaching and non-teaching faculty, and students.

Fr Stany Pinto, the Campus Director of St Philomena Campus, played a key role in organizing the program and concluded the event by proposing a vote of thanks.
