Udupi, Dec 12: “The municipal council in Udupi is set to embark on development works to enhance basic facilities, with an allocated budget of Rs five crore, in anticipation of the upcoming Paryaya Mahotsava in January 2024,” according to Udupi MLA Yashpal Suvarna.
He further said, “As part of the customary preparations for the festival, key initiatives include the improvement of main roads, clearing of drainages, installation of street lights, and prioritized maintenance of landmarks such as the Kinnimulki tower and government buildings. Tenders for these projects have been invited, and the commencement of work is imminent.
“The focal points of road development encompass areas from Brahmagiri circle at Ajjarkad ward to the town hall, Kunjibettu ward Katte, Acharya Road, Kinnimulki ward, the vicinity of Big Bazar, Ammanni Ramani Road at Bailur ward, the road in front of the hall, and the stretch from Sharadamba Dwara to the old State Bank. These roads are slated for widening. Additionally, the road from Beedinagudde junction to Jitpadi junction will undergo re-tarring, accompanied by drainage construction. The release of funds is underway to fulfill these longstanding demands of the local residents,” he said.
The MLA also informed that requests have been made to the chief minister and the district in-charge minister for a special financial package from the state government in light of the Paryaya festival. An estimated approval of at least Rs ten crore is anticipated for these endeavours, he stated in a press release.
