Moodbidri: Decennial Annual Sports Meet 2023 held at Carmel School

Moodbidri, Dec 13: Carmel School organized its Annual Sports Meet with great zeal, excitement and showed a remarkable team spirit on December 7.

The school band and the flag bearers escorted the chief guest Sandesh PG, circle inspector, Moodbidri, Sr Sunitha Monteiro, joint secretary, Sr Elena, administrator, Sr Maria Gracilda A C, principal, Sr Preena A C, vice principal, Sr Evelyn Marie, coordinator of Play School, Sr Ranitha and Sr Rosy, coordinators, Jossy Menezes, PTA vice president.

A grand escort was given to them by the spectacular and well synchronised band troop. The captivating opening chorus set a harmonious tone for the event followed by an exhilarating welcome dance that filled everyone’s heart with joy.

Sr Preena AC extended a warm welcome to all the dignitaries. The school principal Sr Maria Gracilda A C too welcomed the invitees and guests thanking everyone for showing their love and affection with their gracious presence. Then came the spectacular moment of the march past by the students of grade VI to IX marching with the theme representing Technology, Photosynthesis, Artificial Intelligence, Indian Army, Save Ocean, Chandrayana 3 and Indian Space Research Organisation respectively. Shaun Levin Pinto, head boy, Joswin Deon Lobo, assistant head boy, Joyston Dias the sports Minister and Deepan Bhandary the assistant sports minister led the ceremonial march past to the rhythmic beats played by the school band.

The chief guest and other dignitaries hoisted the school flag. The lighting of the sports torch symbolized the spirit of competition and camaraderie, setting the stage for an exciting sports event followed by reciting the oath by the sports minister. The chief guest took the salute from the marching students, coupled with some stirring marching music by the band. Students of grade V-A and B presented a creative drill dance which was phenomenal.

The chief guest, in his speech, stressed the importance of sports and fitness which is the essence of a healthy body. Now it was a time to add some dignity and fragrance to the event by honouring the chief guest Sandesh P G by Sr Gracilda A C and other dignitaries. All the students of band troop were also honoured with a medal and a certificate for their excellent performance. The exceptional event continued with various sports events, including demonstrating the school assurance to nurture both academic and athletic excellence.

The champions from grades VI B, VII A, IX A and IX B celebrated their well-deserved victory in the March past competition. Their hard work and dedication have certainly paid off! The athletic events, track and field, such as 100, 200, 400 metre races followed by other events took place side by side. It was also a gastronomic journey for students exploring various footstalls. The valedictory function initiated by Tr Manasa was a memorable conclusion to a sports day at Carmel school.

The principal’s encouragement for sports and emphasis on the qualities of a sportsperson left a lasting impact on the students. Finally came the much-awaited event – the prize distribution!.

All the winners of team games races including that of march past competition were felicitated by the chief guest and the dignitaries. The event came to the conclusion by lowering of the flag and singing of the National Anthem.

The efficient compering was led by Tr Joslin Quadras along Deon Chris Dantis, Dhruvi Roopa and Sanvi Riona D'Souza. Tr Anitha proposed a vote of thanks.
