New Delhi, Sep 8 (IANS): The question hour could not be taken up in the Rajya Sabha on the last day of the monsoon session Thursday as the house was adjourned till 12.30 p.m. over the cash-for-vote scam.
As soon as the house met, opposition members were on their feet demanding suspension of question hour to discuss the arrest of two former Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MPs -- Fagan Singh Kulaste and Mahavir Singh Bhagora -- in the case.
Repeated pleas from Chairman Hamid Ansari to let the question hour proceed were not heeded to.
Ministers of State for Parliamentary Affairs V. Narayanasamy and Rajiv Shukla were on their feet urging the opposition to let the proceedings go on.
"Let the parliament proceed, every day you are disturbing," Narayanasamy shouted.
As the MPs continued to press with the demand for suspending the question hour, the house was adjourned till 12.30 p.m.
Rajya Sabha member and former Samajwadi Party leader Amar Singh and the two former BJP MPs were Tuesday arrested for alleged involvement in the cash-for-votes scandal arising from the July 2008 parliament trust vote.
