Mangaluru, Dec 18: Dakshina Kannada (DK) district administration and Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) jointly organized the inauguration ceremony of the 'Janaspandana’ programme on December 18 at the town hall here.
Key attendees included MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, MLAs Dr Bharath Shetty and Vedavyas Kamath, mayor Sudhir Shetty Kannur, opposition leader Praveen Chandra Alva, and former mayors Divakar Pandeshwar and Shashidhar Hegde.
The Janaspandana programme aims to provide a platform for people to voice their queries and receive immediate solutions to their problems. Citizens with issues can present their queries, and the mayor, along with local corporators, addresses delays in work and issues immediate orders for resolution.
MP Nalin Kumar Kateel emphasized the importance of the government reaching out to the public, stating that citizens have rights and should not have to beg and wait for permission. He highlighted the issue of corruption in various offices, including the corporation, and urged cooperation between the opposition and ruling parties to eliminate corruption.
Mayor Sudhir Kumar encouraged citizens to express their problems during the Janaspandana programme, assuring them that the city administration would work to resolve issues within 15 days.
Several residents presented their problems during the programme, including issues related to water leakage during the rainy season, problems with road construction, and the need for footpaths and bus shelters. The mayor and concerned officials addressed these concerns and assured quick solutions.
Deputy commissioner Admin Ravi Kumar, district skill development officer Deepak D'Souza, and various committee chairpersons and corporators under MCC limits were also present at the event.
