On December 22, in response to a public complaint about an electricity problem, Umesh and Ramesh had gone near Guddeyangadi in Bommarabettu village - Kairali Nagabana at 2:00 pm. While Ramesh successfully repaired the transformer by climbing it, tragedy struck when Umesh ascended the transformer to insert a fuse. Accidentally, the live electricity from the line entered his right hand, causing him to fall upside down and rendering him unable to speak. He was quickly transported to Manipal KMC Hospital in an auto-rickshaw, but unfortunately, the doctors pronounced him dead on the way. Umesh had inadvertently touched a power line, leading to his electrocution.
