Udupi: Protest by Congress against giving land of Suzlon company to private companies

Udupi, Dec 24: Former minister Vinaykumar Sorake urged the government to take the land that was given to KIADB back and distribute the same to more than 15,000 people of Kaup, who have applied for the site, instead of giving it to other private companies.

Sorake was speaking at the huge protest rally that was organized in front of Suzlon unit that is functioning near Nandikoor on Padubidri-Karkala road on Saturday.

Sorake further said, “Suzlon Energy India company had bought 1200 acres of land through KIADB for industrial development at a very cheap rate. However, the company is selling the same to other private companies after it suffered loss.”

A memorandum was submitted through Kaup tahsildar to state and union governments urging fulfilment of demands.

Eminent leaders like Ivan D’Souza, Prasad Raj Kanchan, Udayakumar Shetty Muniyalu, Dr Amshuvantha Chikkamagalur, Pratibha Kulai, M A Gaffoor and Sudhir Kumar Maroli also addressed the protesters.

Naveen Chandra Suvarna, Santhosh Kulal, Dinesh Hegde Molahalli, Ramesh Kanchan, Kishan Hegde Kolkebailu, Shivaram Shetty, Manjunatha Poojary, Neere Kirshna Shetty, Veronica Cornelio, Deepak Kotian, Divakar Shetty Kaup and others were present.
