Mangaluru: YIASCM organizes fruit mixing ceremony

Mangaluru, Dec 24: The department of hospitality science of the Yenepoya Institute of Arts, Science, Commerce and Management (YIASCM) organized a fruit mixing ceremony on December 19 at its campus in Balmatta.

Manukumar, general manager of Ocean Pearl Resort Chikkamagaluru was the chief guest and Sr Marceline D'Souza, The principal of Nazareth School Balmatta was the guest of honour for the event along with Dr Arun Bhagwath, the principal, Dr Shareena P, vice principal and dean, faculty of commerce and management, Narayana Sukumara, vice principal, Mervin Vas, HOD - department of hospitality science, Mukthar, vice president, Abhay Vasu, Sous chef of department student board who were on the dais.

Gokul Girish briefed on the programme schedule and Sandra briefed  history of fruit mixing ceremony. The chief guest Manukumar who congratulated and encouraged the students to organize such events along with the guest of honour Sr Marceline D’Souza thanked the team for organizing a unique program celebrating along with school kids of 3rd and 4th standard. Dr Arun Bhagwath, delivered the presidential address.

Thereafter, all the dignitaries, faculty members and the students participated in the fruit mixing ceremony where some of them found coins which would fetch them a prize.

The student also organised a Santa, who was the special attraction of the day.

Followed by the kids had a basic banking workshop and Mariyam was the resource person for the workshop. Almost 30 plus students were present for the same.

At the end, valedictory ceremony held and Chaithra L Shetty, assistant controller of examination, Yenepoya (Deemed to be University) was the chief guest along with Dr Rathnakar Shetty, HOD, department of computer science, Mohammed Shahid, HOD, department of commerce and Dr Parameshwar Hegde, campus Coursera coordinator were on the dais.

Certificate and gifts were distributed to all the participants. Ayshath Mashuda hosted the event, Meralal welcomed and Armaan Khan proposed the vote of thanks.
