Mangaluru, Dec 26: In a significant development, the semi high-speed Vande Bharat Express train conducted its trial run, reaching the Central railway station in the city on Monday evening. The official flag-off ceremony took place on Tuesday morning at 8:30 am, with the presence of notable figures including MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, MLA Vedavyas Kamath, former mayor Divakar Pandeshwar, and railway officials.

Departing from the Central railway station, the train embarked on its journey to Madgaon railway station in Goa, with an estimated arrival time of around 1:15 pm. Following a brief stop in Madgaon, the Vande Bharat Express is scheduled to reach Mangaluru at 6:30 pm on the same day.

The Southern Railway aims to commence regular operations of the Vande Bharat Express between Mangaluru Central and Madgaon starting December 30. While no official announcement has been released by the railway board, sources indicate the possibility of Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurating the new platforms at Mangaluru railway station along with six Vande Bharat Express trains, including the Mangaluru-Madgaon route.

It should have been extended to Mumbai instead. It won't be much profitable. A mumbai- mangalore via goa vande bharat is the need.

It's a very good initiative, but the the stops have to be given in kundapur, and murudeshwar for more people making use of this train. I hope these stops will be implented soon.

Which speed are you talking about? The average speed of Vande Bharat trains is 83 KMPH, which is comparable with any other express train of Indian Railways.

This train is better than Shatabdi express. But the problems is now they say only 2 to 3 stop in between Mangalore to Madgoan ,But after some time the protest will start in many places to give stop and the fast train will become just like goodstrain. The bus lobby will also come. Just to get vote they will give a dozen stops. Because election is due. After election Nalin Kumar will tell that because of poor response we are going to stop this train. My opinion is this train should be intercity between Mangalore to Madgoan with stop at udupi and Karwar.

John sir, you are talking about extending upto Mumbai, but this bus lobby will try to stop only at Mangalore. This train will stop running immediately after the election.

This train won't last long. Utter non sense with limited stops. The Mangalore Margao intercity at 8:00 am from Mangalore was good, that train is terminated after covid.

Konkan Railway is saturated. The entire onus is focussed only on a single track. Trains *NEVER* arrive on time. Instead of introducing new trains, *the basic focus is to lay additional new tracks and improve the punctuality of existing trains.* At a later stage, trains can always be increased depending upon the demand not because any Tom Dick or Harry should get the credit but for feasibility and easy connectivity. For now, the trains should be introduced only where there's no connectivity.
