Mangaluru: Bajjodi Infant Mary Church holds Sauhardhya Koota

Mangaluru, Dec 26: On December 25, Christmas was celebrated at the Infant Mary Church, Bajjodi as an inter-religious harmony day. A ‘Sauhardhya Koota’ was organised inviting the people of other faiths.

In the beginning, carols were sung by the parish youth choir. Later, Fr Dominic Vas, parish priest, welcomed all and gave the Christmas message in which he highlighted the purpose of the birth of Christ. “God became man because He loved mankind. He wanted to make us Divine. He took upon Himself our frail humanity, our poverty and sufferings. He became like us in every way except sin,” he said.

Then the Bajjodi, Maroli area corporator Kesav spoke. “Christianity is the religion of love. Hence we have love and help one another,” he said.

Kiran, the Bajjodi area BJP leader spoke and said that Christmas is the feast of love and joy. He wished everyone a happy Christmas. 

At the end of the programme, cake and sweets were distributed to everyone. Santa Claus entertained everyone and gave sweets. The whole programme was organised under the leadership of Prakash Saldanha, the PPC vice president.
