Mangaluru: Coast Guards swiftly rescue ailing crew member from oil tanker

Mangaluru, Dec 27: In a prompt and efficient response, Coast Guard personnel successfully rescued a crew member from the Liberia-based oil tanker ship, M T Ivory Ray, anchored 9.5 nautical miles from NMPT port. The distressed crew member had fallen seriously ill, prompting an urgent midnight call for assistance.

On Tuesday night, the crew member collapsed while in the ship's washroom. The Karnataka Coast Guards, acting swiftly, received the distress call and immediately dispatched personnel, including a doctor, to provide emergency treatment to the unconscious crew.

Following the on-site emergency treatment, the ailing crew member was safely brought to Mangaluru port and admitted to a local hospital for further medical attention.

The Ivory Ray ship had arrived at Mangaluru port 13 days ago after a journey from Liberia via the Red Sea. Due to a lack of signal to enter the port, the vessel was anchored in the middle of the sea.
