Daijiworld Media Network – Mangaluru (MS)

Mangaluru, Dec 28: A floating bridge is the new attraction for tourists at the Panambur beach in the city. The new facility was inaugurated by speaker of Karnataka legislative assembly U T Khader on Wednesday.

Khader said that he will have discussion with the tourism minister to give complete encouragement for beach tourism. Laxmish Bhandary and Rajesh Hukkeri, partners of the beach maintenance company were present.

This is the first floating bridge in Dakshina Kannada and second in the coastal region after the floating bridge at Malpe beach. Around 50 tourists can watch sunset by standing on the edge of the bridge at a time.

For the safety of the tourists, 12 life guards are deployed throughout the length of the bridge.

Had been to Malpe recently and I can say it's million times better than panambur. A lot needs to be done in panambur to make it a tourist hotspot. The cleanliness in the food stalls needs to be improved.

Nice addition for promotion of tourism and for the sheer delight of kids... But safety is of paramount importance... During inclement weather this activity must be closed without any lenience... Also authorities must strengthen the sides a bit more... Two ropes seem to have a big gap all across where a child may slip easily....
